It's been wickedly hot here. Yesterday it hit 100 degrees. It was so humid that I don't know how anyone could stand being out in it. When I opened the windows to feed the critters it was like being in a sauna. Today isn't quite as humid and I don't think it reached 90. It's 85 right now at 7:15 pm. There was a little breeze all day also. Not sure when I'll be going out again. Maybe Sunday morning because I'm running low on eggs and almond milk.
I sold my old Sony compact stereo set yesterday! A guy from New Hartford came down and bought it. It's 20 years old but was still like new. Had a very nice turntable and a 5-way CD player. A duel cassette player and recorder. I used that the most years ago when I recorded hundreds of old 45's from my bar onto cassettes.
Last year I tried to give that stereo away along with the entertainment center and no one wanted it. Now I have to try and give that entertainment center away. It's only made out of that pressed hardboard and is real heavy. I'm listing it on Craigslist for free and hope some kid might want it. Now I have to try and sell all my record albums. I don't have many but do have some nice sets with 4 records that I bought from reader's Digest years ago. I do have a few oldies from the 60's. Perfect condition. I also have sets of CD's that I bought from there. I'm listing everything on Craigslist. Yesterday I was cleaning and dusting a lot and moving things around. Today my left knee hurts bad. I over did it. That knee was starting to feel okay too. Darn it.
My daughter, Ginny, called me this afternoon. She says it's real hot down there in TN too. Nothing new with her and I only had a couple things to tell her about her kids. I told her that Vanessa might be coming to the Miller reunion with me in August. She wanted to send Vanesa a card for her birthday so she's going to mail it to me to give to her. Vanessa just moved so I don't have an address yet for her.
Since this hot weather started I have hundreds of those awful disgusting millipedes crawling all over my apartment. I hate them. The landlord never sprays along the building but they are underneath this cement slab. They even seem to crawl up through the rug. I vacuumed over 200 this morning but they are still crawling around. They are worse in the mornings. At least during the day I can walk without stepping on any. My vacuum cleaner stinks now from having them in there. They give off a chemical smell. There isn't one bird or animal that will eat these things. That's how nasty they are. I've got to buy some laundry detergent and sprinkle it around. Someone online says it worked for her. There's more this year than ever before. Because of all the rain I guess. Outside on the front sidewalk it's black with them in the evening and after dark. I go out to my car after dark sometimes to get a bag of nuts out and they are everywhere. Lots are squished. When the women sit out there they step on them on purpose. I don't ever want to step on them. They leave that odor and a stain on your shoes. Yuck!!
