We had a wicked thunder and lightening storm here yesterday (Sunday) around 6 pm. The lightening was real close and the rain came down in buckets. Much worse than last weekend during the tropical storm from Hurricane Irene. The electric only went out for a minute though. The wind was terrible for a few minutes. A lot of trees got hit by lightening around here and lots of branches broke off from the wind. Out back of this building there was a huge tree hit by lightening. Across the street a 20 foot section of an old Pine Tree got knocked off by lightening. The lady next door lost a lot of tree branches and an apple tree.
The ditch out front was over flowing. That has never happened before that I know of.
I went out to Walmart and Agway around 8:45 in the morning. Just got inside Walmart and a big downpour came. It sounded real loud on the roof and I was glad I was inside. By the time I left it was just raining lightly and by the time I got back home at 9:50 am it had stopped. The sun even was out for a bit yesterday in the early afternoon. But when it started getting darker and darker later I knew we were in for something. It was like all hell broke loose for a while. This video shows how it looked from my window when it first started and then later all the water out there.
The mildew and mold are growing fast under this building and in the walls. I am almost choking every morning now. It's worse in the living room area because that is where all the water sits and flows under the building.
That girl that got the raw video of the tornado crossing the thruway was lucky that it wasn't coming her way. But Amsterdam, NY got hit by it. Quite a bit of damage down there. The girl that got that video loves storms if she is the same one that is on Youtube. She even has tattoos of tornados on her. So that is quite a coincidence that she should see one. If you search for Mohawk Tornado you will see the video as she was sitting in her car at a rest stop on the Thruway. That was awesome!!
So we all had a pretty wild day around these parts. And it's raining again today and will be for the next few days.
