June 4, 2011-Had A Nice Day Yesterday

The falls below Rick and Ann's place.

The view of the water and little falls from their deck. Directly across the water is where he sees the Otter and the Blue Heron sits at the top of the falls sometimes.

Yesterday turned out real nice. I was planning on taking my car over to the muffler shop but my brother, Rick, called in the morning and said something went terribly wrong with his transmission in his truck and was going to drive it to Carbone's in Utica. He said he'd pay for my car repair if I could get to Utica and then give him a ride back to Munnsville where he lives. So I called the muffler shop in Herkimer to see if that guy had already gotten the pipe. He hadn't so I told him to cancel it and I'd get one put on in Utica.
I was a little afraid of driving that far with my noisy car. I called Rick back and said I'd meet him at Carbone's but since the muffler shop was just up the street from where he had to go he said to go straight to the shop and he'd walk up. So I got ready and left the house around 10:45. Had to stop and get gas first then I got on 5S to head for Utica. And right as I turned onto 5S there was a road block! I thought they'd say something for sure about the noise but they were only looking for seat belts and sticker stuff on the windshield. They waved me on by. I would have told them I was on my way to get it fixed anyway.
I get to the Monro Muffler shop up there and they didn't have that pipe in stock either and said they'd have to get it from Oneida. They meet a guy half way though. Then Rick came in after he left his truck off at Carbone's. At first I thought I'd just drive to the Oneida shop but these guys said they wouldn't be able to get me in up there till 5:00. Yikes! No way. Rick had to be to work by five. I asked them how much it was going to cost and they said $134. Damn! In Herkimer they said $85. They said the guy in Herkimer hadn't added the labor yet. I doubt it. I had specifically asked him what the total would be. But Rick said to let them go ahead and do it. He was paying for it. It was going to take till 1:30 before it would be done by the time they could meet a guy half way with the part. So Rick wanted to have lunch at Symeon's across the road. It was a little scary to think about walking over that four lane highway with my crutches but I did it.
We had a nice light lunch. My first time eating out in years. So that was a nice treat for me. And I could use the bathroom there instead of the muffler shop one. They are always so dirty.
We walked back over around 1:10 pm and they had just gotten the pipe. They put it on and then we left. Seemed nice to have a quiet car again. It still sounds a bit louder than it should though but it might just be me.
I drove to Rick's on back country roads that I didn't know about. I'd probably get lost if I tried to go that way again but it was so pretty. And when we got to Rick's road he had me go down a little road first to see the Stockbridge Falls. I'd never seen it from below before. Rick lives on the top of it. His place is so nice with the running water and another little falls in his back yard.
What a beautiful day it was. It was sunny and only in the 60's. Perfect weather! I took some pictures of his back yard. He told me that an Otter comes across the water almost every day and also a Blue Heron. I didn't see either. Sure wished I'd had. That would have been so neat. Maybe next time I will.
I left his place at three and came home.
I went back out later at 8:30 to Walmart to get a few things. Wandered around in there for a while, looking at things. Got home at 9:30. By the time I got to bed last night it was midnight. I felt wide awake so was on the computer doing the pictures I had taken and getting them up on Facebook.
Today I'm just relaxing. Debby had sent me a message on Facebook that she wanted to come over and visit. She never did though and she never called. Don't know what happened with her. Guess she probably ended up going down to Johnstown to visit her kids.
I watched the Casey Anthony trial this morning. They have Saturday sessions from 9 to 1 pm. They are into the forensics now and up to the part where they took samples from her car. There is no way that girl is going to get off.
I am still waiting for the fox pups. The parents were out here later this afternoon but no pups. They are walking behind the building when they leave now. I don't like that. Because they might never bring the pups this far. But I'm sure as the pups get older they will be running over here like all the rest did. I think maybe having that big dog on the other side of the bushes is scaring them from being in that area this year and also the house that is being built. Although I haven't been hearing any noise from that area lately.
It was another nice day but more cloudy. Might get some rain tomorrow.
Today would have been Chris's 62nd birthday. ( My sister who died of cancer in 2006)
I haven't heard a word from her son so I don't know if his girlfriend had the baby yet. I think it was supposed to be born around this time.
So that's all for the past two days! Take care everyone. Enjoy your Sunday.
