I just can't seem to get back here as often any more. Sorry.
It sure has been a sad few days for all those affected by the senseless shootings in CT. I don't think anyone has had a dry eye over this incident. I put an old poem on a background about children. In fact, I made a few with different poems. This is just one by Ron Tranmer.
May God help all those families get through this difficult time. That's all I will say about this. It's just too sad.
As far as myself, I haven't been feeling as well lately. The tumor in my groin or lower belly area is getting larger. When I went out the other night to do some shopping it was bothering me a lot and I had some pain in my liver area. I was glad to get back home. I don't know if this will be my last holiday season or not but I have been very fortunate to have lived this long without any pain. I am not afraid to die at all. I just don't like pain or being sick. Now if I could just get hold of some Helium I'd be all set when it gets to that point. Helium is a painless way to die. That's why you have to be certified to get the tanks these days. People were getting assisted suicide by using Helium. I think we all should be able to go when we choose. Especially with terminal illnesses.
Jeanne stopped by yesterday. She looks good. Her hair always looks good but she has it shorter right now and I like it. I wish I'd get the energy to cut mine again. It really needs it.
I told her I wouldn't be going to the Christmas gathering. She understands. Her daughter, Jessica is having it at her house. Everyone has to leave by 5 pm. It's from 1 to 5. That's because Jess and Mike entertain his family early that morning and then his parents in the evening. So our family is in between. That sure makes for a very long day. Don't know how they can do it. It's nice to be young..Ha!
My daughter, Ginny, called me last night. She and her youngest son had climbed a hill near their home to get good cell phone signals. Everything is going okay with them I guess. She never tells me much. She was waiting for her daughter, Heather to call her back. But it was getting dark and she had to get back down the hill. She sounded as if she didn't know the way back and was relying on Othiniel to lead her.. Hope she didn't get lost in the woods. I don't know about that kid..LOL
I'm not sure when Steve is leaving to go down to NC to see his Grandson. I think this week. At least there is no snow on the ground here, so getting to the airport will be okay. It's coming back that you never know about. They say we might get some snow this coming weekend. maybe just in time for Christmas. That would be nice.
I think I've mentioned the young deer that always come. Well, it seems that one twin is missing, along with her mom. I have not seen them since the last day of hunting. The girl next door on the hill said there were a lot of gunshots that day up behind them. I feel so sad. I loved them when they ran over here together every day. I called them Milly and Tilly. It's Milly that is missing. She had the cuter, slimmer face of the two. Tilly is still coming with her Aunts and sometimes alone. They are very easily spooked right now after all the hunters being up there. Tilly is a lot more nervous than she ever was before. Milly was the brave one that always came first. This is a picture of them on Dec. 1st. I am so glad they can't be shot at any more. At least Tilly still has a chance. And she is with the adult Does to keep her warm through the winter.
The black squirrel is still around and he's healthy and active. I sure hope he lives for a long time. The hawks are out here every day now, looking for something to kill. They mostly go after the birds and smaller critters. The black squirrel will stick out like a sore thumb on the snow this winter. But they are tough. It's the little red ones I worry about the most. The hawks love them. I still have two around out of the four I used to have.
Nature is beautiful and cruel at the same time but that's the cycle of life. If it's nature I don't mind. It's the humans that I don't like killing the animals. It's barbaric in this day and age.
I hope everyone has a nice Christmas and holiday season. Hug your kids more. Merry Christmas!
I started making this but never finished. I was going to add a bunch of my birds and some deer but I never got around to it. I love this photo that I took a few years ago of the back woods. It's the same one I used for my critters in this one:
