September 30, 2012-My Visitors This Week

The last few days have been gloomy and damp. It's that way again this morning. 52 Degrees and raining lightly. Not very good for taking photos but otherwise I like rainy days.
Jeanne stopped over to see me on Friday. She's been busy making new curtains. She's always making something new for her house. She's very good at it. She didn't stay long. She was picking up her granddaughter at 3 pm from school. She was the one that brought Debby home from the hospital last week. And then she went to see Debby another day to help her with a few things. She was looking forward to a day at home alone to rest up.
Debby came over yesterday. She's walking slow and has a lot pf discomfort. I told her to be really careful. She's doing too much too soon after surgery. And she had major surgery! She was cut all across her lower abdomen and had a total hysterectomy. She did not like the surgeon at all. Said he has terrible bedside manners and doesn't seem to care. She didn't even get a list of things NOT to do after surgery. She thinks she will be okay in six weeks but I have read online where it can take much longer with that kind of surgery.
Next weekend Debby will be moving into her trailer. She said she won't be carrying anything though. I guess Jim and Danielle's boyfriend will be helping her move. And Danielle of course. She's excited to get into her own place. She bought the trailer right next to Jane and Savey's house on Barringer but it's in Rockwell Park. She will have to pay park rent of course but she's on Ilion village electric so it won't cost her much for utilities. The trailer is all electric. The girl that sold it told her the highest bill in the winter was $150.
I never heard of a park charging everyone for the taxes too. Has anyone heard of that? I lived in a park for 19 years and just paid the rent. All that is supposed to be included in the rent I thought. But Deb says that she will have to pay about $150 for village taxes and about $200 a year for school taxes. Jack Fitzer is making money off  people.  I never heard of such a thing. Anyone else ever heard of that kind of an arrangement?
Remember I was talking about Jane and Savey wanting to buy that trailer next to them and then renting it to Deb? Well, they found out they couldn't do it. But this all worked out great for Debby.
I haven't heard anything from Nina yet about her new job. Here's some of Nina's work and college history.

September 24, 2012-I Love This Cooler Weather

Fall is finally here! My favorite time of the year. I got my portable air conditioner all put away till next year. Cleaned it all out. I have to make sure there is not a drop of water left inside. I run just the fan part for a few hours.  Cleaned the filter and vacuumed the elements. I cover it with a big plastic bag and roll it into the closet. Now I have my air purifier running constantly because of the mold and mildew in the walls here.  I can always tell the difference as soon as I stop using the air conditioner. My eyes start bothering me more and my nose runs and I start sneezing. That's why I have to keep the air purifier going. And those filters are not cheap!
I am expecting to hear from the management any day. I haven't heard anything yet about the rat. The live trap is sitting down inside that grate but the rat won't go down there now. He's so smart. I was watching him yesterday as he grabbed grass and leaves and took them inside the rock wall to his nest. At least I know where his nest is. That's where I'll have to put the peanut butter balls and hope to God that no other little critters find them. I am going to ask some of my friends on Facebook if they have a pellet pistol. I could shoot him easy because he is so used to me now that he hangs outside on the grass sometimes. I used to be a very good shot with one of those things. I had two when I moved here but sold them. Wish I hadn't now. I'll figure out something.
I went out last night to Walmart to get a  few groceries. It gets dark so early now. It was nice and cool and the moon was bright. Half moon.  I tried to see it from my window when I got home but it was behind all the trees as usual so didn't bother trying to get a picture. One of these evenings I will take my camera with me and get a good, clear shot at the moon again. I want to try and get out this fall to take some pictures. I haven't done that in a few years.
I've been feeling pretty good lately. Just that tumor in my groin is stinging a bit. Not all the time. just when I try to do too much I think. And that air conditioner was a bit heavy. It was up on my stool and I had to slide it down to the floor. And bending seems to bother it more. That's because it's getting squished when I bend over.
Last night I had a wicked pain in the side of my neck and it's still there a little this morning. I must have strained it yesterday but can't figure out how. It's just a muscle strain I think.
I've been doing real good and haven't taken any Ibuprofen for over a month now. It is an anti inflammatory though and am wondering if maybe they were good for me in one way. But I quit them because of my liver more than anything. It's still better to not have any meds in me if I don't need them yet, so I will stay off them as much as I can.
My sister, Debby, came home on Friday from the hospital I think. I still haven;t talked to her about her operation. She is off work for six weeks now. But the good news is, she bought that trailer that sits right next to Jane and Savey's!! Jane called me yesterday to tell me. That's the one that Jane was going to buy and rent to her. So all she will have to pay is the rent to the park that it sits in and it's all electric and she is on Ilion's so that won't cost her much. I'm so happy for her! She will finally have her own place! It's an older trailer but has been all remodeled and it's real nice. Deb's daughter, Danielle has been up here with her for a few days. And Debby has been out and about. Just hope she doesn't overdo herself before her body heals up properly. She'll be so anxious to get moving that she will end up pulling her stitches if she isn't careful.
Maybe I'll get to see her place someday. I might be able to get up a couple steps.
Nina is waiting for the background check to be complete for her new job. She has already told the college that she might be done in December so they are aware and she said they are happy for her and glad that she will be able to finish out the semester first.
The kids got their pictures taken in school. Can't wait to see them.
Steve had a big house sale and is selling everything. Not because he's planning on moving. I guess he just wants the money. He stays at Grace's every night as it is. Jane told him not to sell Chris's old kitchen table set because it belonged to Gavin but she thinks he did. And he never gave Gavin any money for it. So Jane is pissed at him for that. But that's how Steve is. That's why I would never give him anything that was in the family. He'd end up selling it.
Haven't heard anything about Gavin.
Guess I better get going. Got to uncover my birds and get the day started.
Take care everyone.

September 20, 2012-The Rat

Guess I'm in trouble here at the building where I live. The woman next door spotted the rat and has told the whole building and the office so now I'm waiting for a formal letter telling me to quit feeding the animals. I have gotten two letters in the past 16 years but I ignore them.
Trouble is she has told everyone there's three rats. I have been watching the same rat for over a month now. Yes. There might be another one out there. But there's not three. YET! What these people don't know is I watch the rats to get used to where they walk and their habits before I kill them. That way I am not doing harm to the others. I don't often see rats here but when the guy towards the front on the other street was moving and sawing his logs up, he disturbed the rat's nest. The first time I saw the rat it was coming up through the drain grate, which means he got in that pipe on the other end, which is near the wood pile and traveled into my area. He's just another wild critter but the difference is they multiply fast because they have a very short life span. Only a year usually. So that's the way they keep their species going. People freak out at the sight of a rat.
I talked to the maintenance man and he brought his live trap over and put it down inside the grate. Not sure if that will work or not. Rats are very smart. I was hoping to wait till it got cold when the chipmunks would be gone but now I can't so if I do have to poison them, some chipmunks will die also.  And then if another animal eats the poisoned chipmunks they will get sick and die also. The rats go into  their dens and die so I don't worry about them.
If Andrea, the manager's daughter, gives me a hard time then I will have to start giving them a hard time about the mold and mildew I've been living with all these years.  And if I have to I'll get a reporter over here about that drain system that they never finished. These people take all the money the government gives them and only do half the job and pocket the rest. Don't piss me off! That's all I have to say!

As far as the animals go, I saw the mama deer with ehr three fawns yesterday and the fawns ran under her and started feeding. It was so cute. I got video of it and will add that to my other blog.
Now I will wait and see how this day is going to go.

The bitch upstairs started vacuuming before 8 so I turned my music on loud, which I never do, but I'm pissed at her too. Guess I'll be starting lots of trouble before I croak or get kicked out..Ha! Ha! Ha! And I don't give a shit!!!!
Have a nice day everyone.

September 18, 2012-The Dove

I have to tell you all about the Mourning Dove. I was sitting in my living room late yesterday afternoon and I caught a movement outside, but not in my total view. I saw a hawk on the ground and feathers were flying all over. It had caught a bird. I picked up my camera to take a picture and the hawk must have seen me and flew away. But he didn't take the bird with him. The poor thing had tried to hide inside the wall but had only got his head in. I could see that it was breathing hard so watched it for a while, hoping the hawk would at least come back and take it. But I never saw the hawk again. So now this poor bird is out there in pain with most of it's back feathers gone. I pondered over the situation for a while and decided I'd try to help it if I could. But it was getting dark and he was way out of my reach. I went and got a curtain rod and extended it out as far as I could. Taped it so it wouldn't come apart then reached out the window with it and I could just reach the bird. I gently made it move and kept prodding it till it got close enough for me to reach with my grabber. It still had a lot of spunk and it's eyes were wide open but he was so scared. I only had a small box but had that ready to put him in. I checked  and I didn't see much blood. But it was in rough shape. Had all it's back end feathers torn out and some on top of it's head were gone. I coverd the box and put it in a warm, dark closet till it calmed down.
After talking to a bunch of rehabbers online on Facebook I decided to try and give it some water so I got it back out after about an hour went by. Got a small syringe that I had from years ago when I hand fed my cockatiel and filled it with pure boiled water. I put rubber gloves on and picked up the bird, holding it's wings together. I dribbled some water in the side of it's beak. Not sure if he swallowed any or not. That's when I noticed it's neck bleeding a lot. He also had blood on one of it's legs. I put a towel in the box for him to lie on and covered him back up for the night. But when I checked him at 6 am he was dead. I was relieved because it would have taken months for him in rehab to get those feathers grown back. Maybe he never would have flown again. So it was for the best. I tried and gave him comfort and warmth for his last hours anyway. If I had left it outside the skunk would have come along and tortured it more before eating it. I just couldn't bare the thought of that.
That was my good deed for the day.

On Sunday evening I finally got all my laundry done. That tired me out. Then on Monday morning I went out at 7 am to get critter food and go to Walmart for a few things.
I have been feeling pretty good for a few days so that's when I have to do things. When I have a back ache or pains in my feet or legs I can't do too much. It's amazing when I do feel good. Just wish it would last.
Monday was a beautiful day. No humidity and about 75 degrees. Today, Tuesday, it's raining and will be all day long. Heavy winds coming by five o'clock.
Last Saturday I finally got to see the other Doe. She's the mom to one of the fawns. I hear they are all hanging in a  group way up in the back woods behind the next door neighbor's house.
We are wondering who will be moving into Ellie's old apartment upstairs. I've heard rumors that it might be the mother to one of the girl's that live upstairs. If that's the case then this place will be going downhill even further. There'd be kids running up those stairs all the time and this woman smokes too and it's right on the same corner as me but up around the corner. I'd be smelling her smoke all the time too, along with all her company's. The smoke is already killing me in this place. I wish they'd pass a law for these Government funded buildings so that no one can smoke in them. It's invading our space and that is not right. I've already given my input on a Facebook page that's trying to get a law passed. I even gave them the landlord's name and address. I don't care if I get in trouble or if the landlord hates me more than he already does. We have rights too!
Today I'm going to relax as best I can. But I know I'll end up doing something. Always something to clean and I have lots more stuff to weed out.
It's my brother, Jim's, 61st birthday today. He finally got all his apartments rented. He called me last week. So I could delete them off Craigslist.
My granddaughter, Salena's, cat is missing. It's been gone for a few days now so I guess it won't be coming back. Now they only have one left. That's the pretty cat that my sister Jane had given them earlier this year. I wish Nina never let them outside. It's bound to happen. They either get hit by cars or poisoned. But I do hope it shows up, for the kid's sake.
Take care everyone.

September 13, 2012-Cooler Weather Feels Good

I'm loving these cooler nights! Although it is heading for 85 degrees today, it doesn't matter because the days are shorter and the nights are crisp and cool and it's a whole lot better sleeping weather. Not that I sleep any better but..Ha!
It's been quiet and I don't really have anything to report, as far as family goes.
The mama deer and the three fawns have been around  the past few days. I hadn't seen them in almost a week. The fawns have lost all their spots and they are growing their winter coat. They sure look different so fast! I can see the mom's longer hair on her. The fawns are very curious and they still run and jump and are very cute to watch.
I've gotten a couple good photos of the fox pup too. There are two. They don't come out together though but they have different faces so now I can tell the difference. Sure is hard to get close ups. They tend to get up on the wall now and look down. I haven't seen the mom to the pups so am a little concerned about her. The dad is always out early every morning.
I heard chain saws in the woods. There goes some more of the critter's homes that they have been so busy working on for the winter. It always bothers me when I hear that noise. There's so many people that don't give a shit about God's little animals. They all have a right to live here on earth too!
I've been out a couple times in the past week. Went out Tuesday night to get groceries. Was out last Sat. morning to get critter food. I had left a bag in the trunk and forgot to get it that night. The chipmunks always know when there's a bag in there. There was a hole in it already. I always leave a small bunch for them in the trunk. I don't care. They are hoarding for the winter so I figure I might as well have the front yard ones have some too..Ha! Ha!
One of our old original tenants here in the building moved out Sunday to go live with her daughter. She's 86 and getting forgetful and falling so it's the best. I don't know how she will get along with her daughter though. I'm thinking it won't be long before they have to put her in Folts Home or something. It's hell to get old.
I haven't heard anything from Nina this week so don't know what is going on with the new job she might get in Albany. I sure hope it goes well for her. She deserves it after all the hard work she's done. I should add her history here so you all can see how many jobs she's had since high school and how far she's come.
Well. I guess I better get my birds up.
Take care everyone.

September 7, 2012-Been Hot Here

I haven't been doing much this past week. It's been hot and humid so I haven't gone anywhere since last Friday morning. It's a bit damp this morning. Must have rained a little overnight. And it was foggy. This will be our last day of warm and humid weather before the cooler air comes in. I will love that!
My cousin and her girlfriend came over yesterday afternoon. Made them lunch and talked about life and family and the old days. I didn't take any pictures though. Forgot.
I was going to go out to the community room at 7 pm for a woman's birthday party but I was too tired and had a back ache from doing too much all day.
My damn flange is bothering me also. I've had to change it almost every other day and my belly is getting all irritated again. Really pisses me off when it won't stick good. But I've tried everything so nothing I can do.
The kids started back to school on Wednesday around here. I haven't seen any new pictures of the grandkids yet but Salena did put a message on Facebook that morning saying she was waiting for the bus.
I guess I will have to get out tomorrow morning for critter food. Not going to Walmart till Monday though. Or Sunday night. All depends on how I'm feeling.
The deer haven't been around at all this week. Maybe they have joined the group that lives up on the hill next door. That girl saw four adults and four fawns one morning. I always wonder where they live in the winter. They do roam over this way in the winter though. At least when they stay in groups they are safer and warmer maybe.
That's all for now. Got to get off this chair.
Have a nice weekend everyone.
