We had one wicked storm Monday night. The power went off just around 11:00 pm and never came back on till 7 am. It's a good thing it was a bit cooler that night for the ones that like their air conditioners on all night. It didn't bother me at all. I loved being in the dark and watching the lightening. Some places got hit hard. I'm glad the power came back on when it did. Just in time for breakfast and I didn't want the stuff in the freezer going bad. It was still frozen. If you never open the doors then it will be okay for quite a few hours. I was up at 5:30 and got my portable radio out. I always keep my flashlight close by and I always keep batteries in that radio. I would miss a radio more than anything else I think. I listen to it every night and every morning. I go to sleep with it on. It goes off in an hour. If I'm not to sleep yet I'll set it for another hour.
I had Nina pick me up my critter food Sunday. I didn't see the kids though. They were all off somewhere else. Even Jessi was with the neighbors. It was too hot for me to go out that day.
I went out tonight at 8:30. Had to get a few items at Walmart. It's going to be hotter and more humid for a couple days. Supposed to rain tomorrow too.
I ran into my brother, Steve and his girlfriend, Grace over there. I thought he would know more about Rick but he hasn't been back there. I thought Jane told me that Jim and Steve were going up on Monday. Jim doesn't want to be picking Steve up but now he's sort of stuck because of Rick's accident. And I found out that Rick DID fall on the same side as the creek and fell down where all the rocks are but just missed them. Jane said that Jim told her there was all kinds of boards with nails in them down there too. Boy, was he lucky to have not gotten injured worse. Makes me so nervous to even think about it.
I asked Steve if he was drinking and he said yes. He said, "but it's only every other week." I told him he's going to kill himself. Grace, his girlfriend said he almost got hit by a car twice this week.
They were in there to get ice cream. Me too. Ha!
I got Pam's invitation to she and John's wedding on the 18th. I have already told her I won't be going. I just can't handle that. Steve said he was going but not Grace. They both said it will be a big drunk day. And it will. I'm glad I won't have to deal with that either.
Steve's cat was missing for five days. He thought it was dead but it came back today. I knew from Alysha's Facebook. Steve has had Raccoons coming in his house and a skunk was there eating the cat's food..He called a guy to take it away after he trapped it. No wonder the cat left home! Ha!

July 21, 2012-Catching Up-Visitors-Rich Hurt
The days seem to go by fast and I never get back here as much as I should. My Aunt Mary and her sister, Ronnie and my cousins, Jack and Gloria and Jack's wife, Jeannie, all came to visit me on Thursday. I hadn't seen Jeannie in about three years and Jack since two years ago. Jack and Jeannie live in CA but also have a home here up near the old homestead where my grandparents lived. We had a nice visit. Everyone looks good. Gloria is taking all her classes and has gotten one certificate to be a home health aide. She was joking about maybe taking care of me some day. You never know! She's going to be doing some of her intern work at Claxton Manor over at Folts Home.
My brother, Rich, fell 30 feet off his roof the other day. Thank God my brother Jim was there when it happened. He was out for a few minutes but didn't want to call 911 so Jim took him to the hospital. The Oneida Healthcare's C-Scan was not working so they took him by ambulance to St. E's in Utica. He spent the night. Had a bad head injury. An 8 inch cut that had to be stitched up and internal bleeding in his right thigh. Ann brought him home yesterday morning. He's in a lot of pain of course. I just hope he will be okay. I hate head injuries. You just never know what might happen.
My sister Jane was worried about that roof. She was there last week and said it's a tin roof that he put on and it's three stories up. On one side it's even further if he fell because it goes right into the creek. Thank God he didn't fall on that side or he'd be dead. Those guys are getting too old to be on roofs. I have always worried about Jimmy falling off one. And he works alone a lot.
I do have more to write but right now I have to get off this chair for a while. I'm adding this pic of my Aunt and cousins.

July 16, 2012-Staying Inside. It's Too Hot
I'm staying inside where it's cool. We did get some rain yesterday though!! I know all the little birds and critters loved that. Everything is so dry here. Just made it very humid though. Today it's in the 80's and humid. Tomorrow is going to be our worst day this week. In the 90's and very, very humid. Then the rest of the week it's supposed to be comfortable.
Jim's wife sent me an e-mail last night and said that Kailyn's graduation party went well and the food was good. She didn't say who else was there but I know Jane and Jeanne were going.
I haven't been doing much. Every morning I'm up at 6 am and I watch for the fox pups and the fawns but I haven't seen them. The mommy deer was out here all alone for a couple days. Guess the other doe was watching the kids..Ha! One of the women upstairs is outside upstairs with a little dog before 7 am so that stops the animals from coming over. She's just babysitting that dog I think. But the other woman has a dog and she goes out or ties hers outside her window all the time.
I can't believe it's the middle of July already. The Ilion Days are here already. I guess their village wide garage sales were Saturday. Then their big Doo-Da parade will be this Friday evening. I used to go watch them all the time a few years back. No more.
My cousin, Jack, and his wife, Jeannie, are here from CA. Jeannie will be leaving next week to go back. jack will be staying another month. They have their home up on Casey Road outside of Mohawk. But their permanent home is in CA. They will be stopping by sometime this week to see me. I'm glad because I might not get to see Jack if I don't go to the reunion this year. And I haven't seen Jeannie in a couple years. Maybe three.
The lump in my groin is getting bigger. but not bothering me much. I'm not feeling bad these days except for the weak legs. But so far no pain in my knee or back this week. Yay! I haven't taken any Ibuprofen at all. I also quit taking the White Willow Bark caps. I want to see how I feel without anything at all. Sort of testing myself.. I do take a few herbs or natural supplements every day though. I take Co-Q10, 100 mg and L-Carnitine, 500 mg and Vit. D-3. 2,000 IU. I also take Vit. C sometimes. And I take one capsule of Oregon Grape Root. 475 mg. Don't ask why. I just have read that they are good for fighting cancer and keeping your immune system up. I don't take calcium. I don't think it's good for me. Every time I started to take it years ago, something would tell me not to. I did take a good multiple sometimes but now I don't. Mostly because there's too much in them that I don't need in my body. The B Complex vitamins are good though. I need to buy some. But I eat enough veggies I think and an egg every day. Lately I am sticking to brown rice with my veggies in it. Lots of broccoli and spinach and mixed veggies. I also eat Avacados now. Not all the time but I try. They always seem to go bad before I can eat them.. I've been buying more beans lately also. White Kidney or red. And Garbanzo Beans. Or Chick peas. One thing I make sure I drink every single morning first thing is fresh squeezed lemon juice with a little pure water. Nothing else in it. I hear it's good for the liver. So I will always drink that as long as I can. I never drink milk. Only Almond Milk or Almond mixed with Coconut Milk with natural cereal and a banana about an hour after I drink my lemon juice. Then about an hour and a half after that I eat a scrambled egg. Only because my birds love them. And a piece of Pumpernickle bread toasted with real butter and peanut butter. I eat a lot in the mornings. Then I just pick till about 3:00 and then eat dinner.
I've been on an ice cream kick lately, which isn't good. And back to eating sweets. So I'll never lose any more weight that way. I love Butter Pecan Ice cream. Or maple walnut. Oh well! Ha!
Guess I better go watch out the window for any critters. My birds are covered for the night and now I have some peace and quiet again.

July 12, 2012-Getting Hot Here-No Rain
It's 90 degrees right now at 3:30 in the afternoon. The humidity isn't bad but it's creeping up on us real bad by the weekend, when we might get a little rain. It's very dry here. We really need the rain. All the crops are drying up. I had a stray berry branch growing out of the rock wall and I thought I'd see berries but now it's all dried up. Guess the animals won't have their blackberries out there this year. The berries were starting to turn from green to purple too. I was going to reach out with my grabber and pick one off when it got ripe..LOL We need some of the rain that is in the UK. They have gotten rain for ten weeks straight now.
I went out at 9 pm last night after it cooled down a little. I didn't feel like going early in the morning. It was quiet in Walmart but I still didn't get back home till 10:15. I had to get my groceries. I will have to go out again on Saturday morning for more critter food. It's going to be hot but at least I can just go and get back fast. Won't be going anywhere else.
Sunday is Kailyn's graduation party in Oneida. I'm not going to that. I don't think I can go to any get togethers this year. Mostly because I can't walk very well, even with my crutches. I won't be going to Pam's wedding in August either. It's outside and I can not walk on grass or anything bumpy. And I can't climb steps to go to the bathroom if I have to. Even if there wasn't steps I wouldn't be able to go. All toilets sit so low that I can't get up from them. I just don't have the strength in my arms any more to do it. So I will stay home where I'm comfortable and safe from falling. I just hope someone will take pictures to share.
Today is my brother, Steve's 62nd birthday. I didn't send him a card this year. I am done with him. He says so many nasty things to people these days. He's such a jerk. My brother, jim, won't even talk to him any more either. We've all given up on him. If he wants to kill himself then I guess that's what will happen. If he continues to grow pot and sell it then he will land in jail one of these days if he doesn't kill himself first.
I haven't talked to anyone else in the family so not sure what is going on. Not sure what Gavin is doing. He doesn't write on Facebook. I did see where he was in his best friend's wedding though. That was in Utica. I bet it's hard with his wife being gone and having the baby to take care. Although I think Cortney's mom is watching the baby for now.
I saw the Doe with the three fawns early yesterday morning. She was out alone this morning. I haven't spotted the fox pups again.

July 7, 2012-Had A Visitor Yesterday!
My cousin, Gordy, stopped by for a visit yesterday. He's been in NY for almost two weeks now and has been trying to visit as many people as he could before heading back to Indiana this weekend. We had a nice visit for about five hours. He had Polio about the same time as I did. He uses a cane and is feeling better now than he has been. He uses a walker at home also.
I think he is now ready to use Facebook. I showed him a few things on there and when he saw all the people that are on there and all the pictures that he could be looking at, he decided he wants to get on more. His daughter in law set up his Facebook account but he never went on it much.
He sure has been traveling around a lot. After he left my place he was on his way to little Falls to visit the cemetery where his mom is buried. Then he was going to Middleville to visit an old college roomate.
It was so hot yesterday. It's a good thing my air conditioner is working okay.
We had a light lunch. I had gone out to Walmart the night before because I didn''t have anything in the house. I hadn't planned on getting my groceries till Monday. I just picked up some sliced turkey for sandwiches and some potato salad. And Gordy drinks green tea like I do so that was easy. Had tiny muffins with tea when he first got here at 10:00 am. He left here around 3:30.
I only took two pictures and we put them on Facebook so his daughter could see them. I'm adding one here also.
I guess it's going to be a dry July. Here anyway. I thought maybe it was going to rain today by the way the sky looked. But it never did and now the sun is out at 9:45 am. Will be in the 80's and humid today I think. I won't be going out again till Monday morning.
I saw two of the fox pups come out of the woods for just a few seconds this morning. I still haven't been able to get any good pictures. I did manage to get a quick video of them before they ran back into the woods. When I opened the window I could smell cigarette smoke . So that is why the little foxes aren't coming close. Too many darn people outdoors upstairs.
I got up the energy to steam clean some of the carpeting the other day. That made me feel better. At least I got the top layer of dust and dirt off. I need to do it again but that tired me out. But glad I did it. I haven't done them in two years.
I better get going. Ricky is screaming at me for his eggs..Ha!

July 3, 2012-Hot Days Ahead-Happy 4th
I went out last night to get a few groceries because it's going to be a very hot week and I don't want to be going out in it. The moon was beautiful last night. The full moon is tonight but I think it might be cloudy. I took my camera with me so I could get some clear shots of the moon. There's always too many trees in the way here.
I got a treat yesterday morning. The Doe brought the two fawns out with her. I got some pictures and video of them. And when they were going back into the woods I was filming them and something caught my eye deeper in the woods. I put the camera on that area and there was a baby fox up in the tree! That is the first baby I've seen. I got him on video even though it was so far away. And a darn tree trunk was in the way. But that was exciting for me.
This morning I'm watching and waiting, hoping to see the foxes. I caught just a quick glimpse of one as he was near the rock wall, peering over it. He was off in a flash though and I never got a picture. But his face was so adorable. I can't wait to see them out here. They stay mostly in the woods or on the back hill for now. I was surprised to see that one this morning. I didn't even see the deer this morning either.
Oh! The other night the mommy skunk brought her five babies down with her! That was a treat too! I waited the next night and last night but never saw them. I got some good video of them though and all my videos are on my Youtube site. The link is on the right side of my page on here.
Jeanne stopped over on Sunday for a while. She's been busy watching Jessica's girls while they put a new roof on.
Alysha found out her baby is going to be a boy. She's so happy. She's naming it after Ben. She says his nickname will be "Arlo".
I haven't heard from anyone else. Jim did call me to say he got the apartments in Utica and Ilion rented. So I deleted those two ads from Craigslist. Now he has to rent the two in Dolgeville. He's been up helping Rich with the garage. He said he won't go when Steve is there. Rich comes all the way down here to pick Steve up when he needs him. Jimmy said he'll never pick him up. I don't blame Jim. Not after what Steve called Jim's wife when they were out in NH for Ben's funeral service. Steve was drunk and that is no excuse. After all Jim and Pat has done for Steve, he don't appreciate anyone. He's losing all his brain cells from the booze and pot.
I've got to steam clean my carpets one of these days. I might do some today if I get the ambition. I'm a little lazy today. But at least my back pain has gone and my left leg and knee pain has gone for now. The only thing that is bothering me is my flange itching now and then and that growth in my groin is getting larger and I can feel a slight sting now and then from that.
I've been bad for a week now with my food. I've been on an ice cream kick. And I bought cookies. Darn it. I better not be eating that stuff very long. I had lost about 8 lbs. but now I will be gaining it back if I don't watch myself.
